A decade dedicated to the study of a remarkable Space program experiment, resulted in the ultimate in comfort technology - TEMPUR® material.
In the 1970s, the NASA R & D Program was experimenting with a material that would conform to the exact body weight and shape of any astronaut. The material, if successful, would significantly reduce the effects of the enormous G-forces experienced by astronauts during lift off, flight and descent into the earth's atmosphere. The project was highly promising, but the material proved to be difficult and expensive to manufacture and susceptible to durability problems.
NASA released this raw material formula to the industrial world in the early 1980s. Fagerdala World Foams seized at the opportunity to refine this highly promising product, realizing the tremendous potential of this unique pressure relieving material. Fagerdala experimented with the product for almost a decade and perfected its composition and durability.

In return, Tempur-Pedic presented NASA administrator Daniel Goldin with Tempur-Pedic's one-millionth pillow. NASA's recognition continues to reinforce our conviction that Tempur-Pedic® products are truly a revolution in the way the world sleeps and views comfort!
